Meet Ranger — My Biggest Challenge

This post is part of the Bloganuary challenge hosted by WordPress.com.

We lost our 15-year-old family dog in December of 2022. For the past year, our three kids have been begging for a new dog.

Truthfully, I’ve really enjoyed the freedom to travel, the lack of pet expenses, and the cleaner house.

But for Christmas, we brought home a new puppy that we couldn’t pass up. He is a rescue from near the Texas/Mexico border — his mom and litter found in a junkyard.

It helps that he is pretty damn cute.

The current challenges include:

  • house training
  • stopping him from eating shoes, pillows, furniture, everything
  • keeping the kids motivated to take on as much responsibility of feeding, cleaning, and playing as possible. So far, they’ve been great.

Wish me luck as we add this new member to the family in 2024.

Happy New Year!

  1. Bitter apple spray for the chewing! And just don’t leave socks, shoes, etc within puppy reach. Josie was a terrible chewer, it does get better. 🙂
